Job Description
We are currently hiring a Shop Manager for a temp-to-hire opportunity in Chicago, Illinois. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone with experience in shop operations, inventory control, and preventive maintenance coordination within a construction environment. You will play a key role in ensuring equipment readiness, organized operations, and accurate tracking of materials and maintenance.

Responsibilities
- Track and manage inventory of tools, materials, and equipment
- Maintain accurate inventory records using spreadsheets or internal systems
- Monitor and schedule preventive maintenance for light-duty trucks and equipment
- Track oil changes, service intervals, and repair timelines
- Maintain service logs and maintenance documentation
- Coordinate equipment readiness for field crews
- Oversee shop organization and daily workflow
- Assist with operational reporting as needed
Requirements
- Experience in shop management, construction operations, or inventory control
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance for trucks and equipment
- Strong computer skills (Excel required)
- Experience tracking maintenance schedules and service records
- Knowledge of construction tools and materials preferred
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
Schedule & Details
- Schedule: Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Employment Type: Temp-to-Hire (eligible after 720 hours)
